Worshipping the society is the best worship

Worshipping the society is the best worship – Guru Puja Boudhik by Sri Bhagaiah Ji

Maa. Sri Bhagaiah ji, Akhil Bharathiya Boudhik Pramukh, speaking in the Sri Guru Pooja function of South Chennai, said that the Bhagwa Dhwaj (saffron flag), which is worshipped on the Guru Pooja day, signifies renunciation, sacrifice and service.  It is because of this, the spirit of offering is inculcated in the hearts of swayamsevaks (E.g., a swayamsevak, aged more than 70 years and having no legs, coming all the way and worshiping the Guru and offering Guru Dakshina at Bhagyanagar this year.)

According to Hindu concept everything in this world is interconnected and hence global unity should have been the natural outcome.  But what we see is global terrorism (e.g., Salem, Vellore, Coimbatore and other parts of the country) because some people believe that their God is the only God.

Similarly, everything from inanimate to animate, non-living to living beings is God only.  Hence the best worship is worshipping the society that is what Swami Vivekananda said viz., people are living gods.  Sangh is putting this into practice. E.g., two swayamsevaks of Bihar carrying more than 450 people from one side of the bridge to another side during the floods and earth quake in Uttarakhand, though they themselves had lost their relatives in the floods.

Sri Bhagaiah Ji addressing the gathering

Quoting Dharampal, he said that our country was rich till the first half of the 17th century and became poor due to the plundering by the Britishers.  There were number of Dharmashalas throughout the country which took care of all the needs of pilgrims.  The contributions to these Dharmashalas were from the ordinary agriculturists, who gave 1/3 of their earnings for the cause.  This spirit is being revived in Sangh as a result of which even swayamsevaks from humble background offer sizeable amount as Guru Dakshina.  In this connection, he cited that in our tradition there was no concept of Income Tax and that only there was ceiling on expenditure.

Not only money, swayamsevaks offer time and energy for the sake of society. Working for the family is a responsibility but working only for the family is sin.  Working for the society is not sacrifice, it is our responsibility/duty.

He spoke at length about the positive work being carried out in North East by Sangh as a result of which we could bring significant change in the mindset of the different groups of people whose minds were polluted by Christian missionaries.  This was possible because Swayamsevaks came out as Pracharaks from different parts of our country, went to North East and worked tirelessly there braving all odds.  However, the challenge is big.
Finally he appealed to the audience to speak to the people belonging to the different strata of society with kindness which will go a long way in building a sense of oneness.  Similarly, he also wanted everyone to hold Bharat Mata Pooja in their houses by inviting all sections of people around their locality.

Earlier, Sri.Vasudevan, Chairman of Prince Group of Educational Institutions, who presided over the function promised that he will render all possible help for Sangh. Sangeetha Bharati Dr. Narayanan rendered the patriotic invocation song at invocation. Sri Ramkumar South Chennai Jilla Sanghachalak welcomed the gathering.  Sri Durai Shankar, Vibhag Sanghachalak was on the dais. A total number of 540 persons participated in the function. Ladoos were distributed as prasadam.

A Handful of rice /wheat and a rupee a day helps our poor and hungry brothers & sisters

A Handful of rice /wheat and a rupee a day helps our poor and hungry brothers & sisters

Looks simple and silly, no? But this system has worked well in some parts of our country.
This is not a new concept, which is the age old tradition and culture of our country.

Giving is not new to Indian. It is in their blood. Should we not pass on this message to our kith and kin, our future generation?

Before cooking our food daily in the morning, keep aside a handful of rice/wheat and a rupee, which is our moral duty and also compassion towards our less privileged brothers & sisters.

Once in 6 months on a festival day let it be distributed to poor by our younger generation.
Please spread this message to your neighbours and at work place also.
This may prove to be a silent revolution in the coming days, this is true Narayana Sewa.
Will you please try from today onwards?

Health-Organ Donation Day-6th August 2013

Organ Donation Day-6th August 2013
Mr.Sunil Anand’s only son Sanjay Anand, a college going boy died in road accident in New York City way back in 1996. A Delhi born Sunil was a famous CPA there. The couple took immediate decision to donate all the organs to the needy at that grievous moment, which gave them great solace in their life that their son has helped the needy even after his death.
Such instances are many throughout the world, but the misconceptions and ignorance are coming in the way of donating the organs.
The organs of Brain dead persons or those who died in accident etc are eligible for donation.
Even though donor card has no legal standing, the donor should share the decision with family members so that it is easier for them to carry out the donor’s wish.

What all organs are donated and transplanted?
·         Kidney
·         Liver /Pancreas
·         Lungs
·         Heart
·         Intestine
·         Heart Valve
·         Skin/ Bone marrow
·         Cornea, etc
·         Total : 34

Our country is in a nascent stage as far as organ donation is concerned.
People are aware of eye donation, in India, but that too proper follow up and co operation from the family of the deceased is necessary.
Proper laws by the govt, more & more awareness, and shedding of misconceptions will help organ donation its due share in India.
Let us pledge our organs on this day.
