Experiences Of Nepal As On Today

Undying spirit of volunteering:

The agony struck villages of Kavale, Ganesha and Mahakal bore the worst kind of destruction, very few houses standing or rather struggling to stand, with rest all houses being devastated. Most among the 15 dead here were either Mothers or children. Just 50 kms off capital city Kathmandu, these villages were struggling to receive the relief even on 4th day of the earthquake. 

Shri Dattatreya, Sahsarkaryawah of RSS and Shri Sunil Ambekar, Orgnising Secretary ABVP and a group of volunteers reached the villages with relief material. The people belonging to the tribes Tamang, Lama and Magar were shying away to receive the relief material like Tarpaulins, Gur, Chiuda, etc being a hard working honest community. The relief was distributed keeping these values in mind.

But the best part was that the local youth from the affected community unhesitatingly became volunteers for the distribution.

The sight at the Teechid Hospital Kathmandu is unbearable. It was too painful to watch the dead bodies lined up at the entrance of the hospital. The identification is in progress and the searching relatives & friends have emotions varying from anxiety to pain. A batch of volunteers from HSS and Pragyik Vidyarthi Parishad is actively engaged in assisting the Doctors and hospital staff here. Yesterday 43 bodies had to be handled, embalming with chemicals, helping Doctors, packing the bodies in the bags carefully and then loading the same into the waiting vans, doing every task dutifully. 

While the other batch of volunteers engaged themselves to assist the patients taking them to the right Doctor/ Specialist, providing them the right medicines and all that.
Salute the untiring spirit of volunteers and of course Doctors.

Nepal Earthquake: RSS Rolls Out Relief

Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS), the Nepalese arm of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), on Tuesday, decided to send out relief and rescue parties comprising its activists in eight areas most affected by Saturday's earthquake.

Besides, the RSS has made provision for 10,000 tarpaulin sheets and same number of blankets to reach the victims in the next two days. The decision was taken at a marathon meeting chaired by RSS's joint general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale who has been camping in Kathmandu to coordinate Sangh's relief operations in Nepal.

The Sangh may also send in counsellors from among its volunteers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, but only after the relief and rescue operations are over.

"Doctors and especially specialists as orthopaedics are most needed in situations such as earthquakes, as the Sangh had witnessed during the 2001 Gujarat quake. Fifty such specialists from Lucknow, Delhi and Gujarat will be providing their services in Nepal on a rota basis. The Lucknow team has already arrived in Nepal today," said RSS national prachar pramukh Manmohan Vaidya.

Vaidya said RSS would be working in Nepal through only its arm HSS. He said: "The eight areas identified for sending relief and rescue missions will have only HSS activists. As of now, we are not injecting any RSS member."

He said: "Whatever we do will have to be done in close coordination with the Nepalese government. This is a matter between two nations. The media has been giving out several contending claims regarding the number of RSS volunteers having gone to Nepal but all of them are untrue."

First Update of Second Earthquake

FIRST UPDATE: ============= Yesterday (12/05), we went for a relief package distribution to Palathi village (near Chinese border) in Sindhupalchok district. We picked the relief materials like blankets, tarpaulins, biscuits/cookies from our storage point at Barahbisse and reached Palathi village ground, which is an open area with loose soil flanked by mud hill, at around 12:30 pm. We were pleasantly surprised to see local Member of Constituent Assembly, Mr. Mohan Bahadur Basnet also present at the venue to help with the distribution process. Distribution process was started and going on fine.                                                But?? THEN THE EARTH STARTED SHAKING   At 12:56, while we were busy distributing the relief material and talking to the local villagers to understand the current situation Earth shook violently with a damning sound. We could see the earth splitting with fissures appearing on the loose soil. There was considerable hue and cry as many of them were reliving 04/25 all over gain but we along with the whole village who had come to collect the relief materials, were very lucky to survive as we were on an open ground. There were a couple of people who were standing on the edge of the overlooking hill who slipped due to the triggered landslide but were rescued with minimal injuries due to prompt response of CDRT team from US who along with our volunteers pulled the people out and saved their lives, bringing smiles all across. This was quite a horrific experience for everyone as we were reminded again of the nature's fury and our precarious position confronting it. At the time of writing, we are still having aftershocks and we slept by saying prayers as we don't think there's anything else that can ensure safety of lives of the people here. Help for earthquake affected people in Nepal

The destructive earthquake in some parts of Bharat & Nepal which has gripped the whole world in a wave of mourning.  All are shocked and saddened by the disaster of the nature.  The heavy loss of life and property in Bharat & Nepal is unimaginable.  Thousands and thousands have died and are injured and lacs have been rendered homeless.  News reports are coming about extensive loss of life in Bihar, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim etc. in Bharat and major areas of Nepal.  In such difficult situations, it is the natural duty of all Bhartiya citizens to come forward for the assistance to our suffered Bhartiya & Nepaleese brethrens, our nearest neighbor and perpetual intimates.

It is a matter of satisfaction that Government of India has responded within hours of this disaster and has air lifted essential assistance required for survival in all affected areas. Government of India is making all out efforts to send possible help to Nepal.

 

We are supposed to treat the situation as if a big natural calamity has fallen on our family members who are living in a big home, but because of natural disturbances, some of our brothers, sisters & children are badly affected / suffering. We pray to the almighty to forgive us and bless to face the grave unexpected situation. 

All our karyakartas may have started collecting funds to help our own suffered brothers & sisters in their respective areas through our various related organizations and sensitive colleagues of their own to help the earthquake affected people.  The funds and the material so collected shall be sent to respective places through Rashtriya Sewa Bharati and Sewa International.

We are sure that all our sensitive countrymen, voluntary organizations and karyakartas shall immediately take initiative to collect funds and material for this noble cause.
