PLAN OF ACTION: August, 2015
to March, 2016
Introduction: Gramyasheel and the Kosi Region of North Bihar
Gramyasheel has been in service of
the people of Kosi Region of North Bihar for last two decades as a leading
social, ideological and spiritual organization. The Kosi region of North Bihar
is one of the most vulnerable regions of the country as it is located at the
Ino-Nepal Border where the moral degeneration and insecurity of children and
adolescents has been a great concern for many. The violence against the three mother-powers
(Earth, Women and Cow) has been on the rise. The natural environment and traditional
water-resources, lifestyle and Indian values are undergoing extensive
degradation. The most vulnerable victims have been the children and the
adolescents. The proximity with Nepal and Bangladesh has also contributed to
the phenomenon of Child and human trafficking. They are getting trapped in the
quagmire of intoxication, addiction, mental stress, delinquency as well as
severe physical and mental illnesses. Irrational use of TV, mobile and internet
is completely destroying their innocence, divinity and peace. Teenage girls are
also victims of subtle forms of violence, and are also being pushed to adopt
immoral conducts, immodest dresses and deviated way of life. Gramyasheel
believes that there is a pressing need to inculcate moral values in our adolescent
boys and girls to make them self-aware, energetic and creative citizens of the
future. We have focused on two important institutions i.e. the family and the
school in this regard, and we have been working consistently to save these two
institutions from further decay. Given the whole scenario, Gramyasheel has come
up with an ethically woven programme called ‘PANCHMUKHI’ for the real and
balanced development of the daughters of adolescent age. We have already
started working on the ground with a service-oriented approach.
